Gettin Saused in Austin

12th September 2011

A couple of weeks ago, I flew out to Austin, TX for some hard work in the hot sun. On my off time, I got some very important summer activities done!

When I die, please remember to add that poem to my list of irrelevant  and horrible talents.

Almost always being in a city, I had never been tubing before. I think this became very obvious as I walked to the river, wondering where I would put my boots as I floated down the water.  I still have slight mysophobia but despite the beer polluted water, tubing was way fun!

Due to the delima I encountered, I am now the shameful owner of a pair of sandals. “flip flops” as some people call them. Although I was unprepared with the proper footwear, I was prepared with the proper camera. I’ve had a Weathermatic Dual 35 sitting in a camera box for years, just waiting to take a dip. So I finally took  a couple of fun shots with it, that day.

I decided that I was going to grab my friend a postcard as I tend to do. Maybe I was looking in all the wrong places, although I feel like not selling them in the airport is a bit of an oversight. I ended up just sending a 4×6 print of something I shot with 35mm and making a post card of my own to print out and distribute when I go back there to shootF3F, in November.

Isn’t Kris a lovely model?  As an adventurous meat eater, like myself, he’s also a lovely Texan tour guide

And a fantastic jumper!

Heres some other fun shots from my day off in Austin.

I don’t think I had a single bad meal, while I was there. A couple of my favorite things that I don’t think New York will be able to recreate are Rudys brisket, Hula Huts pina coladas, and Jos cinnamon rolls.

Living in Houston, I am in a constant state of Austin Envy.
    I don’t go often enough.
But I’m destined to live there.
Oh, and Houston’s Goode Company BBQ is better than Rudy’s.
