Vacation to Thrill Ville!

20th March 2012

A couple of days ago I found out about a magical universe that exists within a hilly part of Oregon right off of the I-5 highway called the Enchanted Forest.

Heres what I know about the Enchanted Forest:

  • you have to take a road called Enchanted Way to get there
  • the parking lot is large and houses a Transformer

Thats all I know about it because it was closed for the off season.Even more closed (despite what their tripod website advertises) is an amusement park called Thrillville located directly beside the Forest.

Guarded by nothing except for a broken fence and a very grumpy old man in a navy blue VW Bug, Alex and I went in to Thrill Ville and got to do the following things with out any lines!

jumpswim

climb

and sit in cages

I’ve been to Enchanted Forest numerous times. When I was a kid, about 20 years ago, it was magical and sparkling clean. Then I went a few years ago when I turned 30. It was magical in a dirty, filthy, finding-dead-things-in-upsetting-places kind of way. We went last year one more time and were pleased to find it even more beat to shit. I highly recommend checking it out while it’s open. The photo opportunities are endless, the haunted house is pants peeingly terrible, the “roller coaster” is amazing and the whole place smells like nacho cheese.

Also, we always used to stop here beforehand. Your love of jumping would serve you well here. http://www.jumpskyhigh.com/

i lol’d so hard when i saw the name “thrillville”. it reminds me of the goonies where corey feldman goes, “sounds like my grandfather takin’ a leak, mikey. thrillsville.” this is entirely appropriate considering that the goonies was filmed & set in oregon.
