15th November 2013

Hi there! I’ve been an absent blogger, probably because I’m not much of a blogger to begin with. I miss having an outlet for what I’ve been working on, although a lot of the things I’ve recently been working on are sworn to secrecy, which brings me back to my lack of update.

I bet this is about as exciting to read about as the script for Juno, so onward to snippets of nonsense that have happened between jobs, over the past few months!

 1. I got to meet Woody! The jerk told me that there was a snake in his boot and scared the bajesus out of me…  2. I bought so many balloons in New York, that I nearly flew away  3. I got to spend some time with my old friend at Disneyland, and found the joys of personalizing balloons  4. Had tons of fun scraps to pick up though out the month, from crafting

1. flew into LA just in time to make it to Alex’s Bunnywith art show, and hand out doughnuts to the crowd that was waiting outside to get in  2. Went on a road trip with this little lucky llama who got a lovely makeover, half way through  3. Started doing more stop motion VINE videos on my Vine account  4. Got to see the magical world of David Copperfield!  1. I was lucky enough to find some free time in Florida to go meet my best friends new little lady  2. Went rock climbing. 2 1/2. Kidding! If I wanted to climb, I’d obviously find a tree or a stagnant basket ball player  3. I got a brand new DSLR, and turned my cosmetic case into a padded camera case for it to live in. I LOVE how unassuming looks  4. Got to spend some time in Central Park with my favorite old friend Charlie the pup. I miss her a lot, being all the way out in New York with my grandma, but we recently got a new furry friend to help turn our California house into a home.

Alex and I have been spending a lot of our time at the Bay Area shelters in the search for the perfect companion. Every time we went to the San Francisco Animal Control center, little Harvey was there getting more irresistible with every visit. When we finally got the ok from our landlord to have a dog, we went back and got to visit Harvey out of his kennel. The first thing that he did was run up and hug us and we were in love! He’s been the most perfect puppy ever since!

We puppy proofed the house, cleaning, redecorating, fixing the yard. It feels good to finally see the house look how I’ve been wanting it to for so long. It feels good to know that I have such a supportive person to cheer me on though all of my silly home and  work stresses. It feels good to have a new camera after beating mine up for so long. It feels good to have a companion that likes roll around in the grass and protect the house with a single bark. I feel like I’m starting a new chapter, premature of New Years and I really like it.

My New Favorite Energy Bar

19th June 2013

Last week, while I was at Disney, I passed that sticky thing on a stick that I see at every purchasable corner of Disney World.

The massive lollipop. It seems so intimidatingly sweet and oversized that I’ve never attempted to eat one but that day was different.

I had been up since 5am with nothing to eat and no clear view of when I would have a chance to get real food, in sight. It seemed like the most logical idea for how to regain some energy.

So I picked out the one with the most twists of fun colors and bought it!

I realized quickly that there are three important things to remember while attempting to eat a cartoon-like lollipop:

  1. Its not possible to fit it in your mouth, so choose only one side to lick
  2. If your milkshake brings all the boys to your yard, then your lollipop will bring all the children to where you’re standing in line for the Dumbo ride
  3. Your hair also may love it. Keep both children and your hair back, and the treat will sustain minimal germage.

I could only get to a certain point in the 2 hours that I spent working on it before it brushed up against a very sweaty parent and had to be thrown away but it was a fun time while it lasted.

Whats the last new food you’ve tried?

My 28th Annual Birthday!

4th June 2013

I recently got to celebrate another birthday! I LOVE my birthdays because they typically are the day where I get to rescue balloons from party stores and take them around for a big day out, for their 8 hour life span. I had a lot of adventuring planned for them, so I needed a big breakfast.

So I had chicken and waffles! After we got the check, the kind of looney and completely sweet old man that owned the place kept stalling us and demanded that I refill my Pepsi. I happily obliged, and was soon greeted with a huge slice of red velvet cake and the “happy birthday song” being sung to me by a staff of people who sounded like they had just learned it 2 minutes earlier. It was a GREAT start to my day!

The day got even better when Alex gave me the gift of a clear umbrella, with my drawings on them. Since it never rains where we live, I wasn’t sure how much use we could get out of it in nature. So we went to the front yard, turned on our hose, and took cover under the bubble to test it out!The day got even better when I got to pick out balloons to rescue from the party store. I found the polka dot balloons to be the cutest of them all.

We put so many balloons into the car, that we had to replace the airbags! It was a clown car. Complete with clown shoes, seltzer water, and laughs! We brought the balloons to my favorite place in all of San Francisco, Japantown!
We ate Gyūdon and looked at merchandise featuring my favorite fictional character,Kiiroitori. (also known as, the fat duck emojicon, on my iPhone).   I think the balloons got a bit too excited, because they started blindly leading us all over Japantown! They were almost completely out of control! They spun me around and got so excited that they began making loud popping noises that kept startling me.Thankfully, Alex was able to wrangle them. Soon after, they settled down and told us that they were just growing impatient because they we’re hoping to catch a Pokemon, before we left. So we continued our day and our hunt for Pikachu!

Turns out, that the little Pokemon has grown into quite a large fella!Alex and I were having so much fun with so many balloons, that it seemed greedy to keep them all to ourselves. So we started giving them to others for their unbirthdays, but there were still SO many balloons!

So we met up with some friends and took them ice skating!Soon, all of the balloons were well placed and it was really fun to watch my friends skating around with a bright new accessory. I’m pretty sure its what helped everyone float around on the ice…because as soon as Alex lost his, he slid right onto the floor!I had a really great birthday and so far, its been a great new year for me.I may be getting older, but it continues to feel like I’m not growing up too much, because my best friend is there to support my decisions no matter how immature they may seem. Its also nice to have a group of people around me that are also really creative and supportive and silly.

23rd April 2013

I recently got to work with the people over at Whole Foods online magazine, Dark Rye! I was asked to submit a tutorial that is environmentally friendly and cute. I had lots of fun making baskets out of paper, and strawberries out of watercolor.

Check out the whole tutorial that I shot and illustrated, over at Dark Rye!
