Scumdance!

17th January 2013

Did you know that villians bleed? It’s true! Even if they are made of computers, marshmallows, or Arnold Schwarzeneggers, all things have blood. Everything needs blood to make life because thats what they teach you in school.

Unfortunately, school has text books that lack this kind of vidal information about marshmallow blood, so I’ve taken the liberty of stitching together how I imagine villains blood probably looks if you were to zoom in reeeally close on its fluff.

Xenomorph, Stay Puft, Leatherface and a couple of other plush dolls I made will be up along side some amazing new villainous paintings by Alex PardeeDave Corriea, Skinner, Matt136John Wayshak and others for Scumdance!

Scumdance is an art show that displays the villainous scum of the silver screen,  in conjunction with Sundance Festival in Utah! Opening night for the show is Friday the 18th at Blonde Grizzly in Salt Lake City.

I’ll be there with my Zerofriends, on Friday from 6-10…ish so come out and say HAL-lo to us!

Burger Kings

17th November 2012

I’ve spent a fair majority of my adult life searching for the best burger in the whole wide world. I thought I found it when Sam and I ventured into Corner Bistro in New York, after hearing it weaved into an episode of How I Met Your Mother. That was true until Alex took me on a date one night and I discovered Flora burger in Oakland, CA. Most possibly the best burger I’ve ever had. They season it with salt and pepper and minced parsley and top it with an aged cheese and serve it perfectly rare, every time. Alex and I must have talked up this burger pretty highly, because when we were hanging out at the Zerofriends shop, planning on stopping by Flora, a group of our friends we were with agreed to join us!

We all sat down and I remembered that the tables at Flora, were lined with long sheets of paper. I distributed pens around and we all started drawing our own versions of a hamburger, while we waited for our real burgers to be served. It was funny to see what everyone thought up and put down with a couple of crappy ball point pens, uneven paper, and 5 minutes before the food showed up. No one just drew a burger. They drew rock star burgers beyond a sea of hot dogs, overpriced burgers, and story burgs boards!

I drew the ice-burger that really sunk the Titanic

and caught Dave and Marissa perving out over my nudie pen.

The food eventually came, and like every time I get something warm to eat, I devoured my burger before I could get a chance to take a picture of it and post it on the internet to show off my gluttony. Its probably for the best…

Juxt a Preview

5th September 2012

Recently, I had the pleasure of shooting a couple of artist profile photos for the upcoming Halloween issue of Juxtapoz magazine that’s being curated by Alex Pardee!

Gathering the photos for the magazine has made for quite a memorable month of adventures. I watched men turn into guilt ridden bats, drown in the middle of bone dry parking lots, and vomit up fluids the same color as a Barbie convertible.

Beyond being able to have my photos accompany interviews that offer a unique insight to super talented artists, I also have a 6 page layout of some of my spoOoOoOokiest Halloween photos. (“Spooky” is still a cute term to describe a mixture of silly and slightly odd, right?)

The issue is set to come out on September 11th, so pick it up!!!

If you simply are too excited to wait, Juxtapoz just put up a preview of the issue on their website!
